During martial law, there is an opportunity to extend the validity of the passport of a citizen of Ukraine for going abroad for this it is necessary to contact a foreign diplomatic institution and submit a corresponding application. This procedure is primarily aimed at citizens who were forced to leave Ukraine due to military operations and/or are returning to Ukraine urgently.
Important!
The validity period of an old-style foreign passport (that is, with a pasted photo card obtained before 2004) cannot be extended.
The application for extension of the term is submitted by the person in whose name the passport for traveling abroad is issued, in person.
The application can be submitted before the passport expires, but not earlier than two months before dateexpiration of passport for traveling abroad.
The validity period of a passport for traveling abroad is extended for five years from the date of submission of the relevant application. If the application is submitted before the end of Artthe year of validity of the passport for traveling abroad – its validity period is extended for five years from the date following its expiration date.

When planning to buy a plane ticket or submit documents to a foreign consular institution for a visa, be sure to check in advance whether you can use a foreign passport with an extended validity period.
What to do if you have a child without a foreign passport?
Contact the nearest Embassy/Consulate of Ukraine to enter information about the child in the foreign passport (the service is free!).
If you are in Ukraine, contact the State Migration Service of Ukraine.
During martial law, it is possible to enter information about minor children in the foreign passports of their parents or legal representatives. This procedure is primarily aimed at citizens who were forced to leave Ukraine due to hostilities and/or are returning to Ukraine urgently.
To enter information about a child in the foreign passport of his or her father or mother (or legal representative), such a person must personally apply to a foreign diplomatic institution and submit the following documents:
- completed application for entering information about the child
- valid passport of parents or legal representatives
- child’s birth certificate (in the absence of a birth certificate, the legal representative can submit an extract from the State Register of Civil Status Acts of Citizens on state registration of birth)
- a document of a person as a legal representative (if it is about guardianship or guardianship – a document confirming the authority of a person as a legal representative (a court decision to establish guardianship or guardianship)
- 2 photos of the child measuring 3.5×4.5 cm
- copies of passports (if the child has a passport of a citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad / a passport of a citizen of Ukraine in the form of an ID card (even if the term of validity of such a document has expired) — a copy of such a document)
Important!
When planning to buy a plane ticket or submit documents to a foreign consular institution to obtain a visa, be sure to check in advance whether there will be any problems with the child/children whose information is entered in their parents’ foreign passports or legal representatives, when boarding a plane or crossing the border of the country to which you are traveling.

- Rabies vaccination. Vaccination must be given to an animal over 3 months of age and no more than 1 month before departure.
