Are there special conditions of entry and assistance for temporarily displaced citizens of Ukraine who leave the country because of the war?
No, there are no special conditions. Citizens of Ukraine can enter the country under general conditions.
To cross the border, all travelers must present a pre-issued visa.
The visa can be obtained at the diplomatic missions of Guinea-Bissau, or at the international airport of Bissau (only in cases where the inviting party has notified the Migration Service Department in advance).
After your arrival, you can contact the consular unit of the Embassy of Ukraine in Senegal for help in completing the documents.
A certificate of vaccination against yellow fever is a mandatory document for crossing the border.
Social security of temporarily displaced citizens of Ukraine
The government of the country does not provide.

Medical care is provided on a general basis in local medical facilities.
The possibility of extending short-term stay and visas for citizens of Ukraine
In cases where your stay will last more than 30 days or the period specified in the travel documents, after crossing the border you must immediately contact the local authorities for further registration and obtaining the necessary documents.
Should I apply for official refugee status?
Currently, the Government of the country has not established a separate “refugee” status for citizens of Ukraine.
In order to enter or leave the territory of Guinea-Bissau, it is necessary to:
- provide a certificate of vaccination (minimum 2 injections) or negative results of a PCR test for COVID-19, made no earlier than 72 hours ago;
- pass the control/measurement of temperature, which may be suggested to be done in cases of detection of symptoms of fever, do a suitable antigen test;
- obey a 5-7 day quarantine, in case of detection of a coronavirus infection.
These requirements do not apply to children under the age of 12.
- if there is a certificate of full vaccination against COVID-19 and the results of a rapid antigen test made at the airport (the cost is paid by the passenger);
- in the absence of a certificate of full vaccination against COVID-19, the passenger must take an appropriate test at the airport and another one after 14 days of stay (the passenger’s movements may be restricted).
Crossing the border without a biometric international passport – yes or no?
Yes, crossing the border is possible with a valid passport of the previous model.
What to do if the validity period of the foreign passport expires?
If you arrived in the country with a foreign biometric passport that has already expired or is due to expire within the next three months, you can contact the consular unit of the Embassy of Ukraine in Senegal to extend the validity of your passport on a first-come, first-served basis.
For this, you need to have the original passport and its copy with you, the consular fee is not charged for the said action.
What to do if you have a child without a foreign passport?
If your child crossed the border with only a birth certificate, and you (mother or father) have a valid foreign passport (biometric or previous model), you can enter information about the child in your passport.
For this, you need to contact the consular unit of the Embassy of Ukraine in Senegal.
You must have with you:
- original and copy of passport,
- original and copy of birth certificate,
- two 3.5×4.5 photo cards (if the birth certificate was issued by a country other than Ukraine that has not joined the Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalization of Foreign Official Documents, the document must be legalized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country).
Information is added to parents’ passportsaction on children under 18 years of age, the consular fee is not charged for the said action.
Border crossing with pets
The conditions of transportation of animals must be clarified directly with the carrier’s company, but the decision will be made directly at the border crossing by the responsible employee of the border service.
Mandatory the animal needs to draw up documents and get all the vaccinations required by the relevant rules of the European Union.
