Arrival, registration and place of residence

Upon arrival at one of the registration centers (around the clock):

  • You will be provided with detailed information about the possibilities of your stay in Lithuania
  • You will be granted temporary residence in Lithuania
  • You will receive food and basic medical care.

If you have a place to stay after arriving in Lithuania, you can register later after arrival at any branch of the Migration Department during working hours.

After registration, Ukrainian citizens and permanent residents will receive:

  • national visa (for 1 year)
  • temporary residence permit in Lithuania (for 1 year).

Accommodation

  • Lithuanians provide their houses, apartments, cohabitation and receive Ukrainians forced to leave Ukraine due to Russian aggression temporarily free of charge.
  • If you decide to come to Lithuania, you can check in advance about accommodation and travel from the Polish border: https://stipruskartu.lt/ua/ hotline +370 677 22222, daily, 7/24.

Employment

If you are registered with the Migration Department and have a visa-free regime, have a Schengen visa or have applied for a residence permit in Lithuania, you have the right to work or self-employment and are exempt from the obligation to obtain a work permit.

You can register in the Employment Service and get the following benefits:

  • You will be offered a job.
  • If you want to retrain, you can choose a training program that suits you.
  • If you have a profession, but do not have a diploma, you can participate in the program of evaluation and recognition of competences.
  • You will be provided with counseling, career planning or psychological services.

Other options for finding a job in Lithuania (there are special marks “suits for Ukrainians”):

Health care

In the medical institution of the municipality where you settled, you can get free of charge:

  • emergency and health care services
  • medical preventive screening and vaccination of minors
  • rehabilitation for the wounded in the war in Ukraine
  • vaccination against Covid-19.

* The community of dentists and oral cavity care specialists also supports Ukraine in the fight against aggressor Russia, and will provide free dental care

Social insurance

There is a draft legal regulation on special measures of social assistance (I hope it will be adopted as soon as possible):

  • one-time settlement support
  • benefits for children
  • social assistance benefits
  • compensation of a part of housing rent
  • compensation for people with disabilities
  • etc

Education

Services

  • Emotional help. The Ministry of Health together with partners provides free help – emotional support line (volunteers) in Russian: tel. 1809. Also free video consultations of psychologists and psychotherapists for adults and children: www.manodaktaras .lt

  • Free train travel to Lithuania
  • Free museums, libraries, cultural centers.
  • Free public transport in Vilnius.
