Medical care

Medicine in Qatar is paid. There is a health insurance system for residents. Resident status can be obtained in the case of employment in Qatar and entry on a work visa, or in connection with the fact that a relative of the first degree of consanguinity is a resident of Qatar (family visa).

A short-term stay may (a decision is made on a case-by-case basis) be extended upon written application to the Qatar Migration Service (a division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs)

What entry restrictions apply due to the COVID-19 coronavirus and what documents must be presented?

Current in the State of Qatar rules in traveling to countries related to the pandemic COVID-19 (starting from November 1, 2022) 

General Policy: 

  1. Travelers are required to monitor changes to the official travel and return policy to Qatar on official resources before planning a trip to Qatar.
  2. Travelers must follow the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Qatar at all times.
  3. Quarantine is no longer mandatory for all travelers arriving from abroad, however travelers who test positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Qatar must self-isolate in accordance with established procedures in the State of Qatar.
  4. Residents of Qatar are no longerrequired to take a rapid antigen test within 24 hours of arrival in Qatar.
  5. Non-residents of Qatar are no longer required to have a negative PCR test for COVID-19 or a negative rapid antigen test.
  6. From 01/11/2022, people traveling to Qatar are no longer required to pre-register online through the website www.ehteraz.gov.qa.

Mobile application “EHTERAZ”

Persons visiting private or public health care facilities must have the “EHTERAZ application activated on their smartphone ” and present it at the entrance for a health check. To download the application, you must do the following:

  • Have a local or international SIM card;
  • Internet access;
  • Smartphone that supports Android 6 and above oriOs 13.5 and above .
  • Download app fromGooglePlay,Apple Store or from other search engines.
  • SIM cards and smartphones are available for purchase at the border crossing points (Hamad Airport and Port Abu Samra ground point, in case the passenger does not have a SIM card or smartphone).

Diplomats, holders of administrative personnel cards, as well as VIP passengers arriving in Qatar on official state visits, are exempt from installing this application.

Cost of tests: PCR – 160 rials; Rapid antigen test – 50 riyals, Serological test – 50 riyals.

Breach of quarantine restrictions in Qatar is punishable by up to three years in prison and/or a fine of up to $55,000.

Crossing the border without a biometric international passport – yes or no?

So.

Starting from December 23, 2022, citizens of Ukraine who are not residents of Qatar will enter the State of Qatar for a period of up to 90 days based on hotel reservation documents in accordance with the following conditions:

1. The passport must be valid for at least six months (extended passports are not accepted).

2. A confirmed return ticket is available.

3. Existing confirmed hotel booking through the Discover Qatar website (https://www.discoverqatar.qa/). Hotel reservations through other websites are not accepted.

The decision on the permitted length of stay in Qatar will be made during passport control based on the hotel reservation documents and taking into account the date of the return ticket. A hotel reservation does not guarantee entry into the country.

Issuing an entry permit using the HAYYA platform.

To obtain an entry permit, you must:

1. Visit the site www.hayya.qa 

2. Apply for entry

3. Get permission to enter through the platform HAYYA

For departure to Qatar through the Abu Samra border crossing from Saudi Arabia, there is a possibility of pre-registration of the entry of the vehicle through the platform HAYYA. Such registration is not mandatory, as the general rules apply when crossing the border at the Abu Samra checkpoint. This requires:

  1. Visit Site www.hayya.qa
  2. Submit an application and pay for the necessary vehicle insurance 24 hours before arrival at the border crossing
  3. Get a pre-entry permit for a vehicle through the platform HAYYA .

Qatar residents with a validQID, have a properly registered place of residence in application Metrash2 and are owners or tenants of housing, can register at platform HAYYA in order to be able to host guests.

Mandatory conditions for such registration:

  1. One person can register only one accommodation through the platform HAYYA
  2. One person can only register five guests per accommodation address through the HAYYA platform
  3. The list of registered guests (relatives or friends) cannot be changed or adjusted, therefore information about guests during registrationit should be clear.

 Please note that the completion of all necessary formalities does not guarantee an automatic entry permit to Qatar.

Hayya platform entry permit holders have the opportunity to quickly go through passport control at Hamad Airport through the electronic gate (egate).

What to do if the validity period of the foreign passport expires?

To enter Qatar, the Passport must be valid for at least 6 months. If its validity period is less than six months, it is necessary to issue a new passport. Entry with extended passports is allowed only to persons who have a residence permit in Qatar and whose passports were extended at the Embassy of Ukraine in Qatar. In other cases, there is a very high probability of being denied boarding and passport control

What to do if you have a child without a foreign passport?

Entry of children without foreign passports is not possible.

Entry with animals is allowed to residents and holders of resident visas (family, work) subject to the availability of appropriate permits (https://hukoomi.gov.qa/en/service/apply-for-import-permit-for-cats-and-dogs)
