Are there special conditions of entry and assistance for temporarily displaced citizens of Ukraine who leave the country because of the war?

Entry is possible on the basis of a passport of a citizen of Ukraine for departure abroad, both biometric and non-biometric, valid for at least 6 months before the date of border crossing.

Issues of temporarily displaced citizens in the Kingdom of Thailand are primarily handled by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner (UNHCR Thailand) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as well as some non-profit organizations (Bangkok Refugee Center – BRC), Asylum Access Thailand, etc.

Medical care

Documentary support and basic medical assistance can be provided with the assistance of Bangkok Refugee Center – BRC (+6625125632-4 EXT 108 during business hours, on weekends – +66860104117). In each region, there is a representative office of the tourist police (tel. 1155), which promptly responds to the requests of foreign citizens, including regarding the provision of medical assistance.

The possibility of extending short-term stay and visas for citizens of Ukraine

To persons already in Thailand, the Immigration Bureau of this country provides the opportunity to stay for another 30 days from the date of expiration of the tourist visa (it is necessary to personally apply to the regional departments of the Thai Migration Service, as a rule, no later than a week before the expiration of the visa, with the original of the foreign passport; the cost of extending the stay is 1,900 Thai baht). https://thailand.mfa.gov.ua/ konsulski-pytannya/shchodo-prodovzhennya-dozvolu-na-perebuvannya-v-korolivstvi-tayiland_

Should I apply for official refugee status?

The Kingdom of Thailand is not a party to the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and has no relevant national legislation that clearly regulates the legal status of a refugee. Therefore, acquiring official refugee status in Thailand is not possible.
